That’s correct, the series is back on track!

Since How I Met Your Mother ended 3 years ago, there have been much written about the series finale. While a majority of the viewing audience disliked the ending, it still remains one of the more well-known sitcoms in popular culture of this century. I personally liked the way the series ended but I am part of a small majority in this argument.

Before the show ended, CBS was in talks with Carter Bays and Craig Thomas about doing a show called How I Met Your Dad starring Meg Ryan as the narrator and basically fulfilling Bob Saget’s role from HIMYM. But the polarizing reaction from fans made CBS pass on the offer and they did not order any episodes. It should be noted that Carter and Craig were asked to rework on the premise of the new show which they supposedly refused.

According to Deadline, the show is being considered for a fall 2017 premier but it will be spear-headed by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, the duo who are currently working on the show This is Us. There has been no word as to whether the show will premiere on CBS or on a different network but it will be developed by 20th Century Fox, the studio behind HIMYM.

The new show will feature new characters and is being currently in scripting and development and if all goes well should premier in September 2017.
